Home prices keep climbing in South Florida and across major metro areas nationwide.
Prices in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties increased by 6.8 percent in December from a year ago, according to the S&P CoreLogic Case/Shiller housing index released Tuesday. That was the sixth-highest among the 20 metro areas tracked by the index.
While prices were up in every metro area, the Pacific Northwest posted the biggest gains. Seattle led at 10.8 percent, followed by Portland, Ore., at 10 percent.
The national annual average price increase of 5.8 percent was the highest in 30 months, officials said.
